The Artists and the Posters in the 19th and 20th Centuries
- Date:

- Location:
- Temporary Exhibition Gallery
Detail
Posters as an advertising medium reached their peak in the 19th century, when advances in printing technology, enabled artists such as Toulouse-Lautrec, Mucha, and Chéret to discover new expressive possibilities in poster art and to produce imaginative, playful works. In the 20th century, masters of modern art such as Picasso and Matisse worked with a printing studio with high technical and artistic skill to produce posters for museum and gallery exhibitions, fusing the realms of art and advertising.
This exhibition introduces the establishment and development of poster art through approximately 160 works. Please enjoy the colorful and delightful world of posters.
