IWATE MUSEUM OF ART

"Strength of Art / Treasure for Iwate" is an annual project for supporting Iwate's art. After the disaster 3.11 we've struggled to figure out what this art museum in Iwate could do for the citizens in such an extraordinary situation. We resulted in the belief that we should keep opening the door every day and should not give up holding exhibitions in order to offer the people various aspects of art and artworks. That would, surely, create a new chapter of Iwate's history in the future to be handed down to the next generation. According to the belief we try to support reconstruction of the prefecture and its people by presenting four successive exhibitions dealing with local art and also by holding workshops involving people in disaster areas.
