Japanese Art from Asian Art Museum East Asian Art Collections, National Museums in Berlin

Date:
Jun.01,2008(Sun) - Jul.21,2008(Mon)

Detail

The Museum of Asian Art in Berlin, having reopened in 2006, is well known for its prominent collection including South, Southeast and Central Asian Art.
In this exhibition we show approximately seventy masterpieces, from Buddhist paintings in Heian and Kamakura periods to modern Japanese paintings by Taikan and Kiyokata. They will be on view for the first time in sixteen years in Japan. Some of them are significant enough that they would have been designated as national treasures if they had not been taken outside the country. It's sure to be a great opportunity to enjoy the true gems of Japanese art.
