Riusuke Fukahori "your world, my world"

Apr. 24 - Jun. 13, 2021

Detail

Fukahori Riusuke (1973-, b. Aichi prefecture) is one of Japan's most popular contemporary artists for his innovative technique of painting goldfish. Since he was suddenly fascinated by his pet goldfish in 2000, he has pursued expression with the subject of goldfish in various ways.
In particular, Fukahori explores a unique technique of pouring resin into a container, painting a part of goldfish on the surface and repeating the process of layering the resin to paint from above so as to create a three-dimensional effect. His technique called "2.5D painting" shakes the boundary between paintings and three-dimensional works and is appreciated in Japan and abroad.
The exhibition introduces Fukahori's 300 works including paintings, 2.5D paintings, installation art and videos. It will invite you to his world of goldfish, full of dynamism and mysterious beauty.
