Woman of Splendor -The State Hermitage Museum Collection

Date:
Jul.26,2005(Tue) - Sep.25,2005(Sun)

Detail

The State Hermitage Museum, Russia is widely considered one of the world's leading museums. Though many works from its collection have been shown in Japan, none perhaps as unique as the exhibition we present with its focus on portraits of women. For this exhibition 55 of these works have been chosen from the 16th to the 19th century. Represented are the Renaissance masters Titian and Correggio, followed by great artists spanning the next four centuries of European art, Cranach, Van Dyke, Goya and Gerard, whose works on the one single theme show us such an array of individuality and creativity.
