Location:
Temporary Exhibition Gallery

Detail

We are pleased to present a joint exhibition of two artists, Higashijima Tsuyoshi (b. Saga prefecture, 1960- ) and Honda Takeshi (b. Yamaguchi prefecture, 1958- ).
Higashijima, now lives and works in Okayama prefecture, is considered a leading figure in abstract expressionist paintings in Japan. Honda is highly recognized with his detailed charcoal landscapes of the mountains and fields of Tono in Iwate prefecture where he lives.
Though in different styles, their expressions are both acquired through their own physical experience in natural environment and their deep insight into the relationship between humans and nature.
For this exhibition the artists selected the works by themselves from the early period to the present so as to convey the true theme of their creative approaches.
