ART BRUT JAPONAIS

Date:
Jun.12,2012(Tue) - Sep.02,2012(Sun)
Location:
Temporary Exhibition Gallery

Detail

The expression “art brut”, created by a French artist, Jean Dubuffet, refers to so-called “outsiders”, who are outside the formal, accepted stream of art schools, galleries, and well known artists. Art Brut artists present lively and purely free style of works, never caught up in traditional or fashionable art. The exhibition of Japanese Art Brut artists, held in Paris last year, travels back to Japan. It will present the work of 63 contemporary disabled artists (including 9 Iwate’s) and more than 1,000 of their creations ― drawings, paintings and numerous sculptures. The exhibits with full of energy will give us a glimpse of a new view of our world and, further, the very source of human creativity.
