The Masterpieces of Hoki Museum

Jul. 27 - Sep. 1, 2019

Detail

The Hoki Museum opened in Chiba in 2010 as Japan's first museum dedicated to Realist paintings. Founder Hoki Masao assembled the museum's collection of approximately 480 works by 60 artists, which triggered a recent boom in Realist painting.      The exhibition presents 64 works by 26 artists carefully selected from the collection. It covers a wide range of artists from the leading figures of Japan's Realist painting such as Morimoto Sosuke and Noda Hiroshi to younger generation. In addition, some works by Iwate's local artists, Fujii Tsutomu and Takasawa Toshiro will be on display exclusively at Iwate venue.
