Beauty of Women in Modern Japanese Paintings : Best of Kihara Bunko Collection

    The exhibition introduces the excellent collection of modern Japanese paintings owned by Kihara Masato.
    Part I of the exhibition showcases bijin-ga (portrayal of beautiful women) from the Edo to the Showa period, including the masterpieces by Uemura Shoen, Kaburaki Kiyokata and Shima Seien, as the highlight of the collection. Part II follows the course of history of modern Japanese painting with the works by such masters as Yokoyama Taikan, Takeuchi Seiho and Hishida Shunso. In addition, some paintings, literary materials and swords will be specially displayed for the first time at Iwate venue.
