Dec.12,2015(Sat) - Feb.14,2016(Sun)
Location:

Detail

Arai Ryoji (1956-, b. Yamagata prefecture) is one of Japan's most popular picture book artists and illustrators.
His unique books attract adults and children alike for richly colored drawings with rhythmical text. He has won numerous awards both in Japan and overseas and became the first Asian laureate of the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award in 2005.
Besides picture book work, Arai has been recently engaged in a broad range of activities: installations, workshops, animated films, music and art for TV programs.
The exhibition presents more than 300 original drawings from his picture books along with sketches and rough designs. His work in various media such as animated films, paintings on huge canvas and even on Japanese folding screens will be also on display. We hope you enjoy Arai's creative and fun museum in Iwate this winter.
