Temporary Exhibitions

Expressionist Movements in Japan

Date:
Oct.20,2009(Tue) - Nov.29,2009(Sun)

Detail

This exhibition is designed to address developments in expressionist arts movements in Japan, examining the creative activities that emerged as manifestations of a distinctively Japanese expressionism, rather than as the adoption and imitation of concepts from Europe. The exhibition thus presents a comprehensive view, spanning many genres, of expressionist activities that emerged from about 1910 to 1929, that is, in the late Meiji, Taisho and early Showa periods.
