Chiba Sho -with the Wind of Toscana

Date:
Dec.12,2009(Sat) - Feb.14,2010(Sun)

Detail

Chiba Sho (1926-1987), born in Mizusawa, Iwate, started his career as a painter in Tokyo. Fascinated by “burnt sienna”, a color named after the soil of an Italian city, he left for Italy to spend 25 years there. During the stay he produced a number of works in which he abstracted the landscapes of Tuscany in his own original way. In this exhibition we'll show his 80 works of diverse media such as oil paintings, ceramic plates and stained glass so as to trace the development of his unique style of creation.
