Detail

Japanese painter and illustrator, Chihiro Iwasaki (1918-1974, b. Fukui prefecture) has long been loved by many people for even more than 40 years after her death.
The exhibition tries to unveil the whole picture of Iwasaki’s life as a painter, a woman, and a mother by presenting 134 works including her representative illustrations of children’s books alongside rare sketches and oil paintings of her early years.
With the words “peace and happiness to all the children in the world” she never ceased to paint children filled with a tender and fresh air, and they still indicate the importance of life and peace.
It is the first exhibition in 17 years in Iwate.
